How to Structure a Housekeeping Schedule

A good housekeeping board does three things: sequences checkout rooms first so arrivals always have clean rooms, distributes the workload fairly across attendants, and leaves room for the inevitable surprises — early departures, stayovers that become checkouts, and out-of-order rooms.

Most properties benchmark 30–45 minutes per checkout clean and 15–25 minutes per stayover. Assigning by total cleaning minutes rather than raw room count keeps workloads fair: an attendant with 14 stayovers is not doing the same work as one with 14 checkouts.
